The water has to tome from someplace. In California water comes from pipes in the alley. In order to get it out of the pipe you must find an expensive plumber to dig a hole and find the pipe. Then you attach something called a saddle clamp that lets you drill a hole in the pipe without turning the water off. As with all things in California, you must have a permit and pay the City money. This time the permit cam with a city inspector attached who sat and watched the entire process.
Piping in the house is the new PEX plastic pipe. It is cheap and easy to run. It hooks together with crimp rings and fittings.
Blue is for cold and red is for hot.
